Habit : A small tree.

Habitat and Distribution : Common in foot hills, scrub jungle to 1200m. Sri Lanka and India.

Indigenous Information : Deer and Boar eat the fruits. the paste made from the mixture of tender shoots, pepper, tobacco, lime is applied to heal the wounds caused by tiger and leopard attacks. Bark is used to prepare medicines for gastric problem and to brew alcohol.

Field Tips : Tree sparsely armed. fruit edible.
