Flora of the Nilgiris

Habit : An erect herb, scabrid.

Habitat and Distribution : Common wayside weed, locally abundant in fallow fields, wastelands etc. Plains from the coast; smaller in size in the hills. Indian subcontinent.

Indigenous Information : Many medicinal uses of this plant including veterinary medicine. The flower and leaf are important for rituals.

Other relevent information : Bees pollinate the flowers. Leaves used in traditional medicine.
