Habit : A medium sized tree.
Habitat and Distribution : Often in sholas. Hills above 900 m. Indian subcontinent.
Indigenous Information : Bark yields fibre. Shoots a good medicine for pimples. Rope is made from bark. Bees forage on flowers. Cattle eat the leaves. Fruit eaten by monkeys and birds.
Field Tips : Fruit is hard when dry, edible, bitter to taste.
